    Default Counting Down...

...we are rapidly approaching the end of the period for which Informatix have pledged support for MicroGDS.

After reviewing the MicroGDS business worldwide, Informatix Inc. has decided to cease support and maintenance of the MicroGDS product line as of 31st March 2013. Sales of MicroGDS seats after this date will still be available. No support contracts will be signed with customers that end after 31st March 2013.

    Is this still the situation?

Will there be any more updates?

    Positively funereal.

My suspicion is that they had so little take up of the last update that there probably won't be any more.

The updates after 2010 were a marketing killer ... (annual license)

Everyone with that thinking around here went just one way.
And a VERY large software company here changed their thinking within the year ... (sales were NOT)

How to kill your product, brilliant as it may be ... try to milk the customer

    sadly ...

REALLY sad for me, since it took as many years to get to grips with this procuct, and i am only scratching the surface ... still

John as promised we are working on the release. We have it installing on Windows 8, and tested there. We have only just this week got the third party libraries for reading and writing AutoCAD 2013 files, and we have started work on the integration.

    Default Biting the bullet..

    Hi All,

I've just got hold of Revit 2014 (Student Edition).... If you can't beat 'em, Join 'em....

    Besides, I gotta eat!

I understand that many of the mgds development team now work on Revit, so I don't feel like a total traitor....

The "GDS" feel is definitely there as well!

I'll obviously keep in touch with this forum. Early days yet on my "migration", I'll keep you posted.

28 years using GDS, 4 years using Revit but I wouldn't go back now.
You're right it's more like GDS than AutoCAD, at least conceptually.

    Thank-You,

My initial take too. The GDS concept is brilliant, now its the Revit concept.
